Krishna and Radha looking into a mirror

A Garhwal-school (Pahari) miniature, c. 1800, by an unknown artist, held in the National Museum, New Delhi. Krishna and Radha are seated on a decorated chauki on a palace terrace, Krishna gazing at Radha's reflection in a mirror, with a landscape of flowering trees, sunlit hills, and a lotus lake beyond. The delicate drawing, brilliant colour, and lavish gold mark it as a masterpiece of the Garhwal style. The mirror motif, recurrent in Pahari painting, illustrates the Rasikapriya of Keshav Das.
