Dasavtar (Kurma)

These are copies of Ganjifa paintings done on inverted terracotta plates or Sora in Bangla. Traditional Ganjifa were painted with tempera colours on palm leaf surfaces. These paintings took inspiration from the circular shape of Ganjifa and replaced the surface with a more durable terracotta plate. The stylisation of figures is inspired by Bengal and Orissa Patachitra motifs of the Dasavatara of Lord Vishnu.
