Shikha Patel

Shikha Patel, born in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, is a highly accomplished figurative painter and muralist. She completed her BFA (Painting) and MFA (Painting) from Banaras Hindu University in 2015 and 2017, respectively. Currently, she is a JRF-SRF qualified Research Scholar at the Faculty of Visual Arts, BHU, studying Self-referential Art Practices in Contemporary Indian Art.

She has presented several research papers on visual arts at national and international conferences. Her contributions to contemporary art have been recognized through numerous awards, including the Art for Hope Grant from Hyundai (2023), Junior Fellowship (2019), Young Artist Scholarship (2016), Prafulla Dahanukar Award (2016), and selection in the National Art Exhibition, among others.

Shikha has participated in several prestigious national exhibitions and art camps, including Students’ Kochi Biennale (2016), Jaipur Art Summit (2017), WZCC Art Camp, Ahmedabad (2019), Lalit Kala Regional Painting Camp (2019), and Kala Kumbh by NGMA (2021), Lucknow Art Fair CIAF- 2025, 64th National Exhibition of Art (2025) and recently exhibited in her solo show at Jehangir Art Gallery (2025). Along with her personal art practice Shikha has almost thirteen years of professional experience as a muralist. She has done more than 30 small murals in private spaces to large scale public murals in various mediums including wall paintings, to cement carving across the country. Which includes some remarkable works in different faculties and Museum of BHU.
