Ashita Gupta

Ashita Gupta is an Indian art practitioner and researcher based in Varanasi. She holds her BFA, MFA, and PhD in Painting from Banaras Hindu University. Her practice explores autobiographical experience, emotional memory, and the relationships between human bodies and overlooked forms of nature. In June 2026, she was selected for Cultivate’s La Baldi Residency in Tuscany, Italy for one month, where she developed a new body of work that was presented in her solo exhibition, ‘About to Touch’. She is a recipient of the Junior Fellowship (Ministry of Culture, Government of India) and UGC-JRF, award. She was a recipient of the Kochi-Muziris Students’ Biennale. She has exhibited widely in solo & group exhibitions, across India, including Kanoria Art Center ( solo show), Ahmedabad; and group show at Jehangir Art Gallery, Mumbai; Nehru Centre, Mumbai; Birla Academy of Art and Culture, Kolkata; Academy of Fine Arts, Kolkata; MF Hussain Gallery (UNESCO), New Delhi; the Annual Art Exhibition, Amritsar; and Abir First Take, Hutheesing Visual Art Centre, Ahmedabad. Additionally, she was selected for the ICOAH Conference in Colombo, Sri Lanka, under the BHU Grant IOE Scheme; the University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo, United States of America; and ICS21 in Helsinki, Finland. She was also selected by Banaras Hindu University for the International Youth Exchange Program, representing India in various countries. Her works are held in private collections, including the Blooming Series (2025) in Norway, Europe. At present, she lives and works in Varanasi, India.
